Obstetrics is a specialized field of medicine that deals with the care of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. This course provides an in-depth study of obstetric care, including the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system, antenatal care, the stages of labor and delivery, postpartum care, and complications of pregnancy.

Students will learn how to identify and manage high-risk pregnancies, including those with pre-existing medical conditions or complications, such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, or placenta previa. They will also study various obstetrical procedures, including vaginal delivery, cesarean section, and instrumental delivery.

The course will cover essential topics such as fetal development, prenatal screening and testing, fetal monitoring during labor, neonatal resuscitation, and breastfeeding support. Additionally, students will learn about ethical and legal considerations related to obstetric care, including informed consent, fetal rights, and malpractice.
