Neonatology is a specialized medical field that focuses on the care of newborn infants, particularly those who are premature, low birth weight, or have medical conditions requiring specialized treatment. This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the medical care required for neonates, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of common neonatal medical conditions.
The course will cover the basics of neonatal care, including neonatal resuscitation, stabilization, and initial management of premature infants. Students will learn about the physiology and pathophysiology of neonatal development and the unique challenges associated with caring for critically ill neonates.
In addition to medical care, the course will also cover the psychosocial aspects of neonatal care, including communication with families, end-of-life care, and ethical considerations.
